CALL FOR APPLICATIONS FOR 2018 POSTGRADUATE BURSARY PROGRAMME

The Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) invites applications for bursaries for the 2018 academic year. The prospective student must have already applied to study a postgraduate degree in any arts discipline, however preference will be given to those wishing to study Arts Journalism or Arts Administration.Students who wish to be considered for a postgraduate bursary for the 2018 academic year are encouraged to apply as soon as possible; entries CLOSE on the 10th of November 2017.

ACT announces four Scholarship winners 2017

On Saturday evening twelve future stars performed their hearts out on the legendary John Kani stage of the Market Theatre.

The talented finalists from around the country travelled to Joburg in the hope of winning a scholarship to pursue their dreams. Having spent the week working with specialist coaches, and fuelled by passion for their art, the students gave a fantastic performance. ACT CEO Marcus Desando responded to the first event under his leadership saying: “It was heart-warming to see the kind of young talent we have in this country. I would like to congratulate the winners and thank the sponsors for a great evening. We wish all the finalists the best in their future endeavours.”

ACT announces 2017 Scholarship Finalists

The Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) announces its new-look Scholarships format, a decision that was taken this year when ACT announced many changes to its funding strategy.

Funded by the Nedbank Arts Affinity and the Dramatic, Artistic and Literary Rights Organisation (DALRO), the 2017 Scholarships Programme presented by ACT is aimed at young South African performers in Grade 12 and aspirant performers under the age of 30 who are not currently registered in any course. The categories this year are acting, singing, dance and musical theatre.

After an intense search which was undertaken across all nine provinces, the ACT team and a judging panel have chosen well-deserved finalists in the relevant categories. No longer do contestants have to enter doing the triple threat and now have the chance to compete in singing, musical theatre, dancing and acting.
