The Market Theatre Foundation invites applications from Graphic Design students / Graphic Design alumni under the age of 35 for a 6-month internship in the Market Theatre Foundation’s Brand & Communications Department. The Intern will be supervised by the Market Theatre Foundation’s CEO Ismail Mahomed and Brand & Communications Manager, Zama Buthelezi while producing innovative and eye-catching content for projects across the Foundation’s business units: Market Theatre, Market Theatre Laboratory, Market Photo Workshop and the Windybrow Arts Centre.
#CreativeUprising, the 5th ACT | UJ Creative Conference will engage with South African Art Education in its current state and possible future. This iteration of the conference is about unlearning and rethinking how we do things and present things. From curating a conference to how we talk about art education in South Africa, the aim of ACT | UJ Conference has been to share knowledge with the view of enabling, advancing and inspiring creative South Africa.

By Heather Dugmore – Pompoms, pennywhistles and a flurry of white sneakers edge forward the rhythm, while the drums ground the sound. It is a timeless evocation of life, conveyed through the medium of the music, the dancers and the instruments. Every aspect of the performance is part of the message, including the cowhide used for the drum skins and the kudu horns, calling the people home.
