Johnny Clegg named an ACT Lifetime Achiever

One of South Africa’s most revered musicians, Johnny Clegg, has been honoured with the Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) Lifetime Achievement Award for music. Sponsored by SAMRO and the National Lotteries Commission, the Award aims to celebrate Clegg’s fruitful career.

ACT announces 2016 Award winners

A Sophiatown theme and exceptional entertainment set the tone at Sun International’s The Maslow Hotel last night, when ACT named their Award winners. At the core of the Awards, is the announcement of Lifetime Achievement recipients who have each had a lifelong commitment to the arts, and this year, six deserving luminaries were recognised.

The ACT Awards to revisit SA’s golden era

The Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) will revisit the epicentre of 1940’s and 50’s South African jazz and blues culture at their 19th annual ACT Awards. The ACT Awards, which will be held on 21 October at Sun International’s The Maslow Hotel in Sandton will bestow Lifetime Achievement Awards on six of the country’s arts and culture stalwarts, while also naming five rising stars 2016’s ImpACT Award winners.
