ACT BUILDING BLOCKS

The ACT Building Blocks Programme, sponsored by the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, aims to build the capacity of South African arts, culture and heritage organisations.

The aim of the Programme is to strengthen the infrastructure that supports arts, culture and heritage programming and services. It seeks to strengthen local organisations through cultural planning, technical assistance, master classes and other developmental efforts.

The Board of Trustees of the Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) approved thirteen once-off grants and five Special Projects for support through the Building Blocks programme during 2011 and 2012.

Special Projects are paired up with a senior specialist facilitated by PUM (Project Uitzending Managers) Netherlands Senior Experts, partnering with ACT on the Building Blocks Programme. PUM believes that ensuring a sustainable development of the private sector is the best way to fight poverty.

In addition, the Programme also facilitates the presentation of the following master classes aimed at arts and culture practitioners across the country.
