The Arts & Culture Trust (ACT) in association with the Dramatic, Artistic and Literary Rights Organisation (DALRO) and Nedbank Arts Affinity awards 2 grants of R 105,000 each towards the costs of undergraduate study in the performing arts at a leading accredited tertiary institution.
Learners in their final year of secondary education i.e. Grade 12, and individuals under the age of 25 with no professional experience are invited to participate in a national competition where they will be assessed on their singing, dancing and acting potential. Each year there will be a new list of song and monologue selections.
Six finalists, 3 male and 3 female, will be selected from all entries to participate in a final practical demonstration of their work. Adjudication takes place in three regional rounds and one national round annually. The first round of the competition rotates annually amongst the geographical regions of South Africa. Two winners, one male and one female, will be selected by a panel of judges comprising of professional leaders in the creative industry. ACT will cover the costs of travel and accommodation for the 6 finalists.
